Our Story

2009-2012

In 2009 Charnie Bledsoe was introduced to the TPRS learning method (see section below for more information on this method). As a French speaker and lifelong student she was so excited to hear about this method that she knew could revolutionize language learning. Eager to share this knowledge with young learners, she partnered with a school in her area and tried out this teaching method with a single French class.

This trial run went incredibly well so she expanded the program to to 3 schools on east side of Metro Denver.

After realizing how successful this method was in helping students to truly internalize a second language, she reached out to other schools in the Denver Metro area who embraced the idea of implementing the program. The interest continued to grow as she taught French classes in more and more schools.

By the second year there was a clear demand for Spanish classes. In response to this, Charnie started to bring Spanish teachers on to join her in the mission to expand language fluency in the area. She trained the new teachers on the TPRS method and the company continued to grow.

As Bikepath became even more popular, Charnie and her teachers began to work to develop a clear curriculum to use in these classes.

2013-2021

In 2013 the company expanded to Northern Colorado. It was an immediate hit as there was such a desire for students to begin learning languages at a young age.

2022- Present

In 2022 there was enough student and parent demand to launch a new language. The first Mandarin Bikepath class was introduced!

Bikepath has taught classes in over 30 schools and continues to provide language learning opportunities in the community.

Driven by a zeal for language and culture, the Bikepath team continues to work toward the ultimate goal of offering a program of excellence at an affordable price.

Our Teaching Method

TPRS

We use a form of Comprehensible Input: TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading & Storytelling) to teach our classes. This means that students learn primarily by listening and watching. We use all of the physical senses to teach language. It is an immersive approach modeled after how we learn our first language when we are young.
